What: Solos, videos, and dance activities which map pathways at the  
intersection of contemplation and surveillance, including:

Surveillance Solos 1 & 2: Subjects Meg Batterson and Julie Festa:
the first in a series of dances to be presented in the LA area over the
coming year by Rebecca Alson-Milkman

New work by Alyson Cartagena and Alfredo Cartagena
Small Gestures:a suite of improvisational scores for 3 performers,  
video,
and audience by Carol McDowell.

Rebecca Alson-Milkman holds an M.F.A. in Dance and Choreography from  
UCLA. Her work has been presented in a variety of venues in New York,  
Los Angeles and San Francisco including Deli Dances at Times Square,  
the New Dance Group Arts Centre, the Evolving Arts Theater,  
estrogenius at Manhattan Theatre Source, University Settlement,  
Access Theater, Anatomy Riot at Zen Sushi and STREAM/fest at  
CounterPULSE. She has danced for Stephan Koplowitz, Yvonne Rainer,  
Denise Uyehara, Cid Pearlman, Ana Maria Alvarez and Taisha Paggett.  
She is a recent recipient of the DanceNOW/NYC Silo Residency and is a  
regular contributor to ITCH performance journal. Rebecca's bodywork  
practice, dancing and choreography are deeply influenced by her  
continuing studies with Barbara Mahler.

Alyson Cartagena's training includes the American Dance Festival,  
International Ballet Competition, Ballet Aspen/Ballet West, Harvard  
University, two consecutive scholarships to the Joffrey Ballet,  
Florida State University (BFA), and the University of California,  
Irvine (MFA).  Currently she is working on certification in  
Integrated Movement Studies at Loyola Marymount University and  
certification in Isadora Duncan technique in New York City.  Alyson  
was recently honored, as the company in which she dances, Loretta  
Livingston & Dancers, was named one of the Best Dance Performances of  
2006 by the LA Times.

Carol McDowell is a movement/video artist based in Los Angeles. Her  
work has been presented internationally, most recently in SoCal at  
the Sweeney Art Gallery, Electric Lodge, Wedge/Women's Building,  
Platinum Oasis, Crazy Space, Highways, FAIRY/Side Street Projects,  
and the Dance Moving Forward Festival. Commissions, grants, and  
fellowships include the National Dance/Media, Asia Pacific  
Performance Exchange, Makasar Arts Forum, Indonesian Dance Festival,  
Djerassi Foundation, Colorado Council of the Arts, Island Dance  
Festival, DTW, Working in the Kitchen, DIA Art Foundation, and PS  
122. McDowell was the Director of the Performing Arts Center at the  
Naropa University in Boulder, Co for several years, and is currently  
a PhD candidate in Culture and Performance at UCLA.

Under the Radar is a new series curated by HEC and  er:dp which  
features interdisciplinary dance events in non-traditional venues in  
LA at large.
