One-to-One and Small Group Yoga Classes
with Hana van der Kolk, Certified Yoga Instructor
Summer discounts now available (see below)

A personalized one-to-one lesson or small group lesson with friends or
family members in the comfort of your home at a time that is
convenient for you.

Why Private and Small Group Yoga Classes?

- At-home lessons allow for a regular and concentrated practice when
life feels hectic and like there is no time for exercise or
relaxation.

- Private and small group yoga instruction can help students better
address their personal needs including overall health concerns, areas
of weakness or stiffness, and injuries.

- We will go at the pace that is right for you, carefully considering
the yoga practice that will best serve you. We will work on postures
with mindfulness and close attention to alignment so as to be safe and
effective.

- You will receive thoughtful hands-on adjustments.

Hana van der Kolk is a yoga teacher, dancer, choreographer, writer,
and movement facilitator. She began practicing yoga in 1998 and was
certified to teach in 2002. She has studied with Integral Yoga, Debra
Bluth, Virayoga (Anusara), Elena Brower (NYC), Shiva Rea, Erich
Schiffman, and Jamie Elmer. Hana has studied the Alexander Technique
with The Juilliard School's Carolyn Serota and LA-based Shel
Wagner-Rasch. Her life-long dance training has provided her with
additional knowledge of body modalities such as Body Mind Centering,
Contact Improvisation, and Release Technique. She also practices
Insight Meditation. Hana's yoga classes are a creative blend of yoga
styles, and draw on her studies in other movement techniques and
awareness practices. She emphasizes mindfulness of the breath and a
sense of play and exploration, facilitating each student to find how
the practice can feel relaxing as well as challenging. Hana currently
teaches yoga at UCLA in the Department of World Arts and Cultures and
privately in New York City and Los Angeles. She has taught such
diverse populations as deaf children, public school teachers, fire
fighters, NYC police officers, plus-sized women, high school and
college students, and dancers. Hana's performance work has been
presented throughout New England, New York City, and Los Angeles and
she will graduate from UCLA with an MFA in Dance in December.

What people have said about yoga with Hana:

Hana has an extraordinary ability to communicate the essence of yoga
without being "preachy." Her ability to adapt to a variety of special
needs - body types, physical challenges, ages, yoga experience -
combined with her great personal warmth and easy manner, make her an
extremely accessible teacher.
- Felice Kaufmann, Educational Consultant, New York, NY

Hana is a compassionate and intuitive teacher. Her understanding of
how the mind affects the body is evident in her teaching approach. She
has an intuitive understanding of her students needs and is able to
effectively tailor her sessions to address them. She is a member of a
select group of teachers who are able to help their students use yoga
and movement to achieve wellness. – Jane Weintraub, Brooklyn, NY

As a teacher Hana is gentle. She is graceful in demonstrating postures
and has a great sense of how postures will work for people with
different body styles. Hana's language for describing movement is
delightful; I don't think I've practiced with any one I like better in
that regard. My experience of her classes was always a lovely balance
of challenge and restoration. - Jim Lang, Composer, Los Angeles, CA

Yoga with Hana is great. The best part is how she tailors the session
to your personal needs. I had taken classes various places in big
groups and always felt like I was doing it wrong, or it was too hard
or too easy. With Hana, it's always at the right level for me and she
makes sure I'm actually doing the poses correctly. - Chris Miller,
Writer/Director, Los Angeles, CA

Hana seems to have an intuitive knowledge of what kind of session our
group needs. Whether flowing, strengthening or stretching/relaxing it
is always right on. - Martineke Bloat, Translator, Los Angeles, CA

I always look forward to Hana's classes because of her ability to keep
the classes fresh, engaging and inspirational, and I'd highly
recommend her to anyone looking for a first-rate instructor. - Shawn
Sites, Los Angeles, CA
