THE CALIFORNIA EAR UNIT PLAYS MUSIC FROM VILLA AURORA
The continuing creative exchange between Villa Aurora artists and
their Los Angeles colleagues is sounded in this unprecedented
collaboration between Villa Aurora composers-in-residence and
visitors from Berlin, and the renowned local chamber ensemble, the
California EAR Unit. The program includes "Pruh", by Sabina
Ercklentz; "Litany for J.C.", by Hans W. Koch; "Pergament", by
Carsten Hennig; "before/QUAKE" and "V.Q", by Ulrich Kreiger; and
"Flow", by Charlotte Seither. This concert is the first in a series
of events organized by the Villa Aurora in celebration of the 40-year
anniversary of the Sister Cities: Los Angeles and Berlin.

Aside from performing works by Villa Aurora composers for the 10 Year
Anniversary of the Villa Aurora in Berlin in November 2005, Amy
Knoles and The California E.A.R. Unit have produced a CD of the
concert which will be available in 2007.

This program was made possible, in part, by a grant from the
Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles, and the Richard
Schuller Fund.
