Subject: Explorsion: Open Call For Submissions

   Look, up in the sky...
Is it a magazine? Is it an artistic insurgence?
Oh my goodness, it's an Explorsion!

Our submission period has officially opened.

Our THEME for the time being is: FIREWORKS
Fireworks in terms of the incendiary as entertainment. The
destructive as a source of awe. Fire works, but how does it work?
What is the mission of the flammable? Or: the harnessed explosive,
how do you co-opt destruction for a gentler purpose...or fun?
Something like that...

AND THE CLINCHER?
Consider the tropes of magazines and use these tools as frames,
boundaries, building blocks or sound boards.
For instance, what could be done in the space of an advertisement? a
fashion spread? a letter to the editor? a product? an interview?
We encourage the creation and coverage of objects or happenings.

There is no idea too big or small:
Story, Poem, Interview, Ad, Sound, Object, Graphic, Textile, Photo/
photo shoot, Video, Performance, Experiment, Anything Else...

...send us a post-it note or an obstacle course.

Consider:
creations
ideas
pitches
abilities
services
schemes

Send submissions to: explorsion at gmail.com
material for:
the magazine, events/performances (big or small, you on a corner
doing something that must be recorded/witnessed) & the web
(explorsion.blogspot.com)

We accept internet links for video or sound projects.
(also to images, text and what not)

We accept submissions AT ALL TIMES, as well as invitations.

Please ask us questions if you have any.

About:

Explorsion is a magazine.
A magazine is a place where ammunition is stored.
The eventual result of ammunition, generally, is detonation. When the
smoke clears, everything trembles under the weight of the explosion.
The landscape is radically changed.

Not content to writhe inwardly, as is the wont of most magazines,
Explorsion detonates itself outward.
Things collide: what is the result of collision? Explorsion.
Explorsion adopts then topples the visual language of the newsstand
glossy with the ridiculous, bizarre and experimental. It is not a
magazine, perhaps, but a constant exhibition.
Things transform: what is the result of the transformation? Explorsion.
Explorsion elevates the magazine beyond paper and staples.
The articles are articles, but maybe they're also a movie of you
fighting an alligator. The advertisements are advertisements, but
they are also homemade swedish meatballs, or scrabble poems. This is
how Explorsion works.
Things fall apart: what puts them back together again? Explorsion.
A chain reaction. One event provokes a video provokes a science
experiment provokes me to provoke you provokes a photo shoot provokes
a poem provokes parties with no shoes on.

Explorsion is a game of combination. Everything is a game piece.

What Explorsion have you devised?
