Los Angeles, CA, August 14, 2007 - The end of summer is picking up speed and our audiences (contrary to popular wisdom about vacations) are waxing rather than waning. We have some great musicians on Friday evening and then on Saturday afternoon, we are proud to be the venue to host the Rod Poole Memorial Concert. Rod Poole http://www.rodpoolemusic.com, a genius guitarist, graced our gallery as an audience member of our New Music series hours before his tragic death. He left an indelible stamp on our memories and a hole of loss in our lives. Many of Los Angeles' finest musicians, organized by Rod's mentor Kraig Grady, are turning out to play tribute to him. The memorial concert is free. Below is the full week's schedule:

The evening of Thursday, August 23, 2007, starting at 8:00 p.m., as part of the Annual Downtown Artists Grants Exhibition (our current exhibition), we will present Bumdog's film "Sketches Of Nothing By A Complete Nobody."

The evening of Friday, August 24, 2007, starting at 8:00 p.m., we will present two solos: Daren Burns http://www.darenburns.com and Motoko Honda http://www.myspace.com/motokohonda.

The afternoon of Sunday, August 26, 2007, starting at 4:00 p.m., we will have the free Rod Poole Memorial Concert with four sections: "Music for Bowed Guitar" with three trios: 1) Jessica Catron http://www.myspace.com/jessicacatron, Jeremy Drake http://www.jeremydrake.com, Cat Lamb http://catlamb.com 2) Erin Barnes http://www.anaphoria.com/shadow.html, Heather Lockie http://www.myspace.com/listingship, Michael Whitmore http://www.myspace.com/michaelwhitmore, and 3) James Grigsby http://www.rotarytotem.com, Joseph Hammer http://www.josephhammer.com, Doug Williford "The 17-Step Guitar" with Jim McAuley http://www.paristransatlantic.com/magazine/interviews/mcauley.html playing solo on Rod's guitar; "Irish Reels" with Bruce Teter http://www.myspace.com/wyndamerebaggs, Spencer Savage http://www.myspace.com/cathairensemble, Michael Intriere, and Emily Hay http://www.emilyhay.com; and "Microtonal Hum" led by Bonnie Barnett http://members.aol.com/ninewinds/BIOS/barnett.html.

As always, beverages will be served, and most of the times, a great art show will be up.

We're located two miles from Chinatown, at 1020 East Fourth Place, between Molino and Mateo Streets, in the back of the 500 Molino Street Lofts, #102, between the Fourth Street Bridge's (on the LA River side of Downtown) two on/off ramps. See our website http://dangerouscurve.org for directions, pictures, and updates.

More about Bumdog's Film "Sketches Of Nothing By A Complete Nobody"

Starring, plus written, directed, edited, and produced by Bumdog, "Sketches of Nothing by a Complete Nobody" is a log of a few days in the life of this Los Angeles homeless man.

Bumdog started the film with a budget of $3.00, the amount of money he had in his pocket at the time. He shot it on borrowed cameras and edited it on borrowed computers. The result is a combination of MTV, "My Dinner With Andre," and "Midnight Cowboy." It's Bumdog's first feature length film, because of which he intends to be known as "The Homeless Ed Wood of the New Millennium."

Boldly done in the cinematic tradition of the American independent films of Kenneth Anger, Andy Warhol, and John Cassevettes, this film is completely unwatchable. It ranks Bumdog alongside of Ed Wood and Oscar Micheaux, whose movie accomplishments are marked, not by any level of actual talent, but rather by the sheer determination and grit to will entire feature length films into existence. His film lacks any cohesive story or continuity: scenes segue into each other without any rationale, the actors' scripts are visible in the frame, street noises obliterate dialog.

So, if you are curious about what a film made by a homeless man could possibly be like, or if you're just one of those people who can watch a 107-minute film of paint drying, this film is for you. "Sketches Of Nothing By A Complete Nobody," at the very least, delivers on its title.

Please adopt animals from local animal care facilities, rescue groups, and shelters rather than purchasing them from breeders or pet stores, and have your companion animals spayed or neutered.

Did you know that if everyone in LA who already has a cat adopted just one shelter cat around every 15 years, not one would have to die? Look on http://laanimalservices.com/adoptsearchphotos.htm to choose one of them today!
