Los Angeles, CA, April 24, 2007 - "Is it music?" you ask? Yes, it is, and you've gotta love it! Join us sooner rather than later for some New Music, which you're gonna love, because it's so fun! You'll see music played not only on "traditional" instruments, but also using circuit-bent toys, vacuum cleaners, cardboard boxes, prepared pianos, you name it! All this in a a low-attitude atmosphere that allows you an intimate brush with world-class musicians and their colleagues. Direct questions to the musicians are welcome! Stay after the concerts to ask away!

Here's a quote from a happy customer, Nate Scoble:

"One of the best venues I've ever been to to hear challenging sonic work presents it to you in a setting as intimate as your home. The New Music Series at Dangerous Curve consistently features top-quality work by a full range of modern players and composers, from the newly- emerging to the globally-revered, from local residents to denizens of far lands, from the brilliantly improvisational to the just as brilliantly scored."

This week, we have a double hitter on Sunday, starting with a 4:00 p.m. show with The Choir Boys (Jeff Kaiser and Andrew Pask) Vinny Golia, and Cosmologic, and then the out-of-this-world Z'ev at 8:00 p.m.

As always, beverages will be served, and most of the times, a great art show will be up (we are an art gallery, after all.)

We're located at 1020 East Fourth Place, between Molino and Mateo Streets, in the back of the 500 Molino Street Lofts, #102, between the Fourth Street Bridge's (on the LA River side of downtown) two on/off ramps. See our website http://dangerouscurve.org for directions, pictures, and updates.

More Information on the Performers:

The Choir Boys http://www.trippyhorns.com are really trippy horns! They can bring about almost any sound out of their horns, with the panache of true masters! Our boomy room really helps matters, too. Here's what Greg Burk, of The LA Weekly has to say about them:

"'Trumpet' and 'sax' will hardly enter your mind when Jeff Kaiser and Andrew Pask, as The Choir Boys, electronify their instruments for rumbling space abstractions and shattering brain blasts."

Vinny Golia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinny_Golia is a CalArts instructor originally from New York, who's used his visual art as a basis for musical compositions. He plays a ton of reed instruments. In 1982, he founded a huge (37 pieces) ensemble, The Vinny Golia Large Ensemble, as a way of bringing together getting diverse camps of Los Angeles musicians. From his interview with Sebastien Moig http://membres.lycos.fr/jazzosphere/golia.htm:

"The times we are in demand that nothing be wasted, our visions, energies, hopefulness, all the emotions and all the things that make humanity what it is are being tested. An artist can only give his/her viewpoint of what they see, for some it's the quest for expression for others the actual presentation of ideas, for some its an entertainment to escape the harsh reality of life itself. But the bottom line is the artist must give his/her full commitment to their vision in order to fulfill their destinies. So, if I have any philosophy, it that I am trying to do what I do to best of my ability and remain a positive force on this planet at this present time."

Cosmologic http://www.cosmologic.org, from San Diego, was founded in 1999. Their music "traverses the broad terrain of creative jazz and improvised music, integrating high-energy playing, intense introspection, rich grooves, open textures, and collective alchemy." The group improvises what start out as a certain member's original composition. The members are Jason Robinson http://www.jasonrobinson.com, http://www.circumventionmusic.com, Michael Dessen www.mdessen.com, Scott Walton http://www.jazzhalo.com/homepage_walton.html, and Nathan Hubbard http://www.castorandpolluxmusic.com/nmhubbard.

Please adopt animals from local animal care facilities, rescue groups, and shelters rather than purchasing them from breeders or pet stores, and have your companion animals spayed or neutered.

Did you know that if everyone in LA who already has a cat adopted just one shelter cat around every 15 years, not one would have to die? Look on http://laanimalservices.com/adoptsearchphotos.htm to choose one of them today!
