ANALOG ARTS ENSEMBLE CURATES AN EVENING OF FOUND SOUND AND FIELD RECORDINGS AT GALAPAGOS

Global collective ANALOG arts ensemble, the group that brought you a revamped Rameau alongside John Cage marathons, is bringing its latest program to Galapagos Art Space on Wednesday, April 25 at 10:30 PM. An exploration of found sounds and field recordings, ANALOG will curate a collaborative performance featuring all-stars from the Brooklyn indie chamber music scene, including Loop 2.4.3 with members of Object Collection and Arsenic-Free Music.

In a program that debuted at Los Angeles' Dangerous Curve earlier this month, ANALOG & friends use field recordings and found sounds to weave a sonic tapestry that is at times hypnotic, bizarre, funny, and always unpredictable. With sound sources like subway platforms, answering machines, Saks Fifth Avenue, and air traffic controllers, you never know what you're going to hear next.

Led by trumpeter Joseph Drew and violinist Johnny Chang, the program will be a mix of original music and works by Samuel Beckett, LaMonte Young, Velvet Underground, and more. The evening winds up with an after-hours remix by various artists experimenting with some of the program's source material. Don't miss the most accidentally intentional concert of the year.
