Cold Storage, anything is appreciated.

Two Internship Opportunities:
COLD STORAGE, an open venue for the exchange and communication of ideas
Description of Organization:
Out of my studio window in downtown Los Angeles, a giant cold storage
warehouse – with 45 ft. high solid concrete walls and encompassing
40,000 sq. ft. – is being constructed. I have cultivated a
relationship with the head of the project, who has given me
permission to use the site during non-construction hours. The
building method is fast-paced, requiring quick action to make the
best use of it. Since claiming it as a creative site in July, the
goal has been to add history, to encourage risk taking, and to open
the potential for failure. To date, over one hundred artists have
contributed to the project in over twenty events. Please visit
www.RoutesAndMethods.org for details.
Position Description #1: Event Coordinator
An Event Coordinator is needed roughly once a week, generally on the
evenings when events take place. While sometimes intimate, these are
often large-scale, including anywhere from three to thirty performers
and audiences of up to 150 people. The primary responsibilities for
this position are to help produce and coordinate events (with a focus
on arriving two hours before start time for set up). Flexibility and
dexterity are a must, as the site itself is in constant flux, meaning
things have a way of changing wildly from day to day. This promises
to be a lively and action-packed position.
Position Description #2: Behind-the-Scenes Tactician
Cold Storage takes quite a bit of behind-the-scenes work in order to
tick. We are currently seeking tactical help with documentation,
funding sources, web-based communication, and essentially everything
else involved in putting on weekly large-scale experimental events
with/for diverse groups of people. This position is flexible in terms
of times and dates – we are grateful for any and all contributions
along these lines – though would ideally involve 4-10 hours/week in
blocks of at least a few hours at a time.
Both positions are open immediately. If interested, please contact
Michael Parker at mp at routesandmethods.org or 310.753.7740.
The site/studio is located near Alameda and 5th Street in the
warehouse district of downtown, Los Angeles, making the internship
convenient by public transportation.
