The Invisible Performance Workshop
10-14 April 2005, Sun-Thurs, 11pm, 11pm

where:  Calarts, ROD Recital Hall

. . .

* Note: There is a discrepancy on the poster: Earlier plans had included several selected performance scores of Marina Abramovic & Ulay for the April 13th event, however after several very friendly, reassuring emails back and forth with Abramovic's assistant, I was then contacted by the artist directly and told to remove her work from the series - I didn't have permission to perform it. (This was the day before Abramovic was to begin leading a symposium on (re)performance at the Guggenheim, whose focus would be her 7 Easy Pieces performance series which would be set there in the Fall of 2005.) In place of this work, Jason Thomas's Imaginary Pieces were programmed instead.

My final large-scale effort at Calarts, presenting 5 days of historic and current body, mind & sound-related performance scores by Richard Martin, Yoko Ono, Nat Slaughter, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Jason Thomas, and myself.

Nat Slaughter, piece for friends and beer (2001)

Performed by just about everyone in attendance (except for those under 21!!).
72 bottles of Pabst Blue Ribbon were on hand at the beginning of the piece and were finished off by around 12:30am or earlier. Several students then made beer-runs and the performance continued until maybe 1:30 or 2am (I think)...
Live mixing by Aaron Spafford.
Special Thanks to Thadeus Frazier-Reed and Kyle Ross for help with sound reinforcement.
