The first evening of Experiments in Music, Sound & Image featured interpretations of Andre Vida's animated musical notation work, along with some other non-notated improvisation strategies, including the premiere performance of Vida's Tie Me Up. Performers inlcuded Rachel Arnold (cello), Jessica Catron (cello), Eric KM Clark (violin), Jeremy Drake (guitar and electronics), David Kendall (laptop), Nic Rosen (contrabass), Cassia Streb (viola), and Andre Vida (voice and wooden flute). The performers were also outfitted with custom clothing design by Leah Piehl that allowed the performers to be tied together with rope. Lighting for the evening was designed by Jeanette Yew.
The second night included work by Scott Arford (video, sound & electronics), Masako Tanaka (video & sound) and Tony Cross (violin & electronics).
The event was organized by Kadet Kuhne and Adam Overton as part of Crazy Space's ongoing Radical Cuts series. Crazy Space is run by Lauren Hartman and Carol McDowell and is situated in the 18th Street Art Center in Santa Monica, California...
