About Neutral Ground Inc.

 

Working in the disciplines of visual and new media art, Neutral
Ground is a presenter of contemporary art and a production centre for
the dissemination of artwork that emphasizes critical and conceptual
innovation or interdisciplinarity. Formed in 1982, the centre has a
diverse programming history that has challenged existing paradigms in
the arts and initiated new production models for live and new media
art. Programming is determined through open submission and by
invitation. Its mandate is to expand the definition of Regina's cultural identity
by creating opportunities for artists and the public to engage with contemporary
and experimental art. The mandate seeks to provide a higher profile for
experimental practices and to provide interpretive or educational
opportunities for artists and the public. We adhere to the principles
of self-determination to be of maximum benefit to practicing,
professional artists.

 

Neutral Ground houses a new media studio which operates
as a research and production facility with an emphasis on the production
of new media art and developing new artistic genres. Short and long
term residencies for new media research and production, performance or
visual art  projects are determined on a case per case basis and self-directed
residencies accessing the lab are welcomed year round. A sound art concert
series runs annually for solo works and works that can be
re-created through transcription and scoring.
