For Anna Mayer's WORD THE WORD, Part 2: Succuthis, participants will perform portions of the Surrealists' round-table sex research sessions. Reenacting the mostly-male conversations from 1928 word for word using self-published transcripts, the group will collectively animate the voices of others in a contemporary investigation of how bodies arouse language and taste becomes audible. WORD THE WORD is presented by the Experimental Meditation Center of Los Angeles.

About the site:
Verse | Chorus | Verse is a sculptural installation by artist Liz Glynn designed to serve as a platform for performances, conversations, and music. Made of reclaimed art crate materials, the structure is based on the architecture of Greek amphitheaters, which were designed to suggest a continuation between events on stage and the daily life of the city. During the artLA fair, Verse | Chorus | Verse is intended to provide a space for the multiplicity of event-based and performance-driven practices in greater Los Angeles and beyond. Programming will include conversations facilitated by Aaron Wrinkle of Dan Graham Gallery, a series of evening performances organized by Human Resources, readings by the Poetic Research Bureau, re-enactments of the Surrealist conversations about sex presented by Anna Mayer as Succuthis, and more.
