Come join us for a meditation "open-mic" every Sunday morning and Tuesday evening in November as we explore a more expansive and experimental view of mindfulness & somatic practices. We welcome the serious and the irreverent, the traditional and the contemporary, the mundane and the imaginative. Bring a meditation or two, an open mind, and maybe a pillow if you care to sit...

Dorit Cypis [Founder] is an artist, Masters of Fine Art, California Institute of the Arts, and a mediator, Masters of Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University. Mining aesthetics, mediation and the somatic arts, her work explores the relationships between the psychological, the corporeal, and the political. Since the late 1970's, Cypis' museum exhibitions are immersive laboratories abstracting forms, positions, gestures, and meanings to shed light on the paradoxes of identity - while her public works/actions are social/ political extensions, mediating aesthetic abstractions into daily life. Here form truly meets function and ideology shifts back to experience. Foreign Exchanges brings together the best of her professional practices as artist, teacher and mediator.

Explore some basic DIY massage and touch techniques that don't require any cream, oil, or special equipment - all we'll need are our hands, fingers, elbows, gravity, a little common sense, and the willingness to listen to our partner. Please come with someone you trust, and bring one chair, a couple pillows, a blanket or two, and something comfortable to wear.
Adam Overton is a composer, performer, and a certified massage therapist working in and around Los Angeles.

Nancy Popp practices performance art and yoga in various places, but not always at the same time. She's shown in spots like Southern Exposure, 18th Street Arts Complex, the Getty Center, and the Armory Center for the Arts, and taught yoga for over 10 years. She currently holds classes at Dancing Shiva in Los Angeles.
